History

AIS Indonesia was founded in 1996 in response to a demand for inclusive education within the international schools in Indonesia. Prior to the formation of AIS, children with special learning needs were not accepted by any international school in Jakarta.

With the involvement and support of professional educators, diplomatic and commercial representatives as well as a group of parents, the school opened on 15 July 1996 with an enrollment of eleven students.

Today the school has more than 700 students. Three schools offer Kindergarten to Year 12 classes with specialist support for students with learning difficulties, limited English language proficiency or physical disabilities.

Schools

AIS-Indonesia consists of three schools. The school in Jakarta has a Primary (K-6) campus at Kemang and a Secondary (7-12) campus at nearby Pejaten. The K-12 Bali school is located at Seminyak. The newest AIS-Indonesia school is located at Balikpapan (K-9), Kalimantan on the island of Borneo. Combined enrolments passed 725 students late in 2010.
